If you have ever asked yourselves any of these questions, the Empowered Healthcare Conference is a great place for you to find answers to these and other important questions about your health care. Please join us May 16th, 2009 for a one-day, eight hour conference in San Francisco, California at the UCSF Mission Bay Conference Center where you can hear from patients, advocates and providers who are dedicated to helping you find critical answers and successfully navigate through our health care system. Our mission is to provide patients the information, strategies and skills they need to become responsible members of their health care team, to work in true partnerships with their doctors and nurses, and to greatly reduce their chances of encountering adverse events and medical errors.

The event features expert speakers in the following areas:

• Hear from empowered patients who share their stories, best practices and advice
• How to establish a successful relationship with your providers and be an effective advocate for yourself and others.
• When and why you need a second opinion and how to access the best sources of information.
• How you can protect yourself and prevent medical errors and hospital infections.
• Tips and advice from patients and therapists on how to manage the emotional aspects of illness.
• Your 1, 3, 6, 12 month plan to becoming an empowered patient (take-home written materials).

This event is appropriate for all members of the public, medical patients, health care practitioners, anyone living with chronic health conditions, caregivers, health care advocates and those individuals interested in making empowered health care a reality. The cost is $80.00 prior to March 30th or $95.00 before May 7th. This is a non-profit educational event. Certificates of attendance will be given.
